Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and SocialCue, LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“SocialCue,” “we,” “us”), governing your use of the SocialCue app and websites (the “Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

SocialCue is a location-based social discovery platform for adults. Members see which nearby venues have people present, may attend meetups and events, and may optionally connect with other members. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and is incorporated into these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use SocialCue. By using the Service you represent that you are 18 or older, that you have the legal capacity to enter these Terms, and that you are not barred from using the Service under applicable law.

Registration asks for your date of birth, and we check it on our servers before your profile is created. The check uses the complete date, to the exact day, and applies however you register; if it shows you are under 18, no profile is created. If you register with Google, Google signs you in first and we ask for your date of birth immediately afterwards — no profile exists until it passes. We retain your date of birth privately, as described in our Privacy Policy, so the age range on your profile stays current as you get older, along with the fact that the check was made, when, and the minimum age applied.

We do not verify age with identity documents, and the age range shown on your profile is a separate profile detail — derived from your date of birth or birth month and year where we hold them, or self-declared and now locked if you joined before we asked. It is not our age check and it grants no eligibility. Misrepresenting your age is a violation of these Terms and grounds for immediate termination.

You may not use the Service if you have previously been removed by us, or if you are required to register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction.

3. Accounts and registration

You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Notify us promptly at legal@socialcue.co if you suspect unauthorized use.

One person, one account. You may not create an account on behalf of anyone else, sell or transfer your account, or maintain multiple accounts.

At registration you select a gender (woman or man) and an age bracket. Your gender cannot be changed after registration. How you take part in SocialCue Connect (Selector or Discoverable) is the mode you choose, not your gender; gender is used only for limited purposes described in our Privacy Policy, such as event attendance counts. Your display name may be changed once.

You may also, at any time, optionally choose a community — Heterosexual or LGBTQIA+ — or Prefer not to say. Your community is self-declared, can be changed or removed at any time, and does not affect your role, Invitations, Connections, SocialCue Connect, membership, pricing, credits, referrals, or any other feature or entitlement.

If your community is LGBTQIA+, you may also optionally add Identity details — a gender identity and up to three sexual orientations — and choose separately whether each is shown on your profile. Identity details are self-declared, can be changed or removed at any time, are deleted if you change your community away from LGBTQIA+, and do not affect venue lists or community views, matching, your role, eligibility, Invitations, pricing, or any other feature or entitlement.

4. Authentication

You may sign in with an email address and password, with a one-time code sent to your email, or with Google. Authentication is provided by Supabase. Phone verification uses SMS and is required to finish registering, unless you finished registering before September 11, 2026.

Text messages. You must give us a mobile number to finish registering, unless you finished registering before September 11, 2026. When you give us a number and agree to receive a code, we send you a one-time account verification code by text message. SocialCue does not send marketing, promotional, or recurring text messages. A message is sent only when you ask for one, so message frequency may vary. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help, or email support@socialcue.co. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

5. How the Service works

Presence. When you grant location permission and are physically inside a venue we have mapped, you may become visible to other members present at that venue. Presence requires an approved primary profile photo. At a hotel, being on the property does not make you visible to anyone: you take part only by choosing one of the hotel’s designated public areas, and only members who chose that same area can see you there.

Invitations. A member who has chosen Selector mode may send an Invitation to a member who has chosen Discoverable mode and is present at the same venue. There are two types: Come Say Hello (displayed in the app as Come Say Hello), which is presence-anchored and invites the recipient to come over and introduce themselves, and Connect Later (displayed in the app as Connect Later?), which is deferred and tells the recipient that the sender does not want to be approached at that time. Sending an Invitation is how a member signals interest in a Discoverable member, who can recognize it and decide how to respond. If the recipient accepts a Come Say Hello, SocialCue facilitates that in-person hello while the Come Say Hello remains active; it is the only feature that does. SocialCue provides and removes these features, but it does not control what people do independently of SocialCue. Invitations are limited to 25 per 24-hour period. A Come Say Hello expires 20 minutes after it is sent, and a Connect Later expires after 7 days, if not answered.

Connections. If the recipient accepts, a Connection is created. Contact handles become visible only if both members separately opt in to share them. Either member may remove a Connection at any time; removal is permanent for that Invitation and is not announced to the other person.

Hotels. In a hotel’s designated public area, Come Say Hello is the only Invitation, and the recipient may answer only Connect or No Thank You. Connect creates the Connection with Meet First pending: each member separately confirms that they met, and both must confirm within 60 minutes of acceptance. Until both confirm, the other member’s About section and contact handles stay hidden and sharing contact handles is not available. If both do not confirm in time, the Connection ends automatically and moves to Past Connections, and SocialCue stops facilitating that interaction. Meet First confirmations are self-reported; SocialCue does not verify where or whether members met.

No messaging. SocialCue does not provide in-app chat or messaging. Any communication after connecting happens on third-party platforms, subject to their terms.

Community views and badge. A member browsing a venue’s visible members may choose All, Heterosexual, or LGBTQIA+; All is the default and shows everyone who is visible. You appear in the Heterosexual or LGBTQIA+ view only if you chose that community and turned on “Use my community for Venue filtering.” Turning it off does not hide you from All; Ghost Mode is how you stop appearing in venue discovery. If you chose LGBTQIA+ you may separately show an LGBTQIA+ badge on your profile. Community views and badges are not matching, compatibility, or recommendations, and SocialCue does not verify any member’s community.

Identity details. A gender identity or sexual orientation appears only on the full profile of a member who switched on its display, and never in venue lists, connection lists, or other cards. Identity details are not matching, compatibility, or recommendations, and SocialCue does not verify them.

Availability. Features may change, and some are enabled or disabled at our discretion. We do not guarantee that any feature will remain available.

6. Acceptable use and conduct

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, defame, or abuse any person
  • Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your age, gender, identity, or affiliation
  • Post photos that are not of you, or that depict another person without consent
  • Post sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or illegal content
  • Solicit money, promote commercial services, advertise, or recruit
  • Engage in prostitution, trafficking, or any illegal activity
  • Use the Service to contact anyone who has blocked you or declined to connect
  • Share another member’s information, photos, or contact details without consent
  • Reveal, publicize, or share another member’s community, profile badge, or anything you believe you learned about them from a community view (“outing”)
  • Use community views or profile badges to target, harass, exclude, or discriminate against anyone, or harass or discriminate against anyone based on sexual orientation or gender identity
  • Misuse the LGBTQIA+ profile badge to deceive or mock others
  • Reveal, publicize, or share another member’s gender identity or sexual orientation, or use anyone’s Identity details to target, harass, exclude, or mock them
  • Falsify your location or interfere with location detection
  • Scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, or use bots or automated means
  • Circumvent limits, gates, or security measures
  • Interfere with the operation or security of the Service

7. Community standards

SocialCue exists so adults can meet safely and respectfully. Consent matters at every step. A member who does not send an Invitation, does not accept, does not share contact details, or does not respond has made a choice you must respect. A member who sends a Connect Later request has asked, through SocialCue, not to be approached at that time; disregarding that request is a violation of these standards. When an Invitation is declined, goes unanswered, expires, or ends (including when a hotel Meet First period ends), that Invitation’s SocialCue features, including any facilitated in-person hello, are no longer active. That ending is not by itself a violation of these standards, but these standards and our rules against harassment, stalking, threats, and repeated unwanted contact still apply. Persistence after a declined or ignored approach is harassment.

Members who make others feel unsafe may be removed.

8. Meetups and personal safety

Read this section carefully.

Whether you meet another member in person is entirely your decision and your responsibility.

  • We do not verify members. We do not conduct background checks, criminal-records checks, identity verification, or photo verification. We do not confirm that any member is who they claim to be.
  • We do not supervise meetings. SocialCue does not attend, monitor, chaperone, or supervise any meeting. We have no staff at venues. Meet First confirmations are self-reported, and SocialCue does not verify that a meeting took place.
  • Meet in public. We strongly recommend first meetings occur in public places, during business hours, with other people present.
  • Tell someone. Consider telling a friend where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Arrange your own transport and keep control of it.
  • Trust your instincts and leave any situation that feels unsafe.
  • Never send money to another member.

You assume all risk arising from any interaction or meeting with another member, whether arranged through the Service or otherwise. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services first, then report the member in the app.

9. Venues and events

Venues listed in SocialCue are independent third-party businesses. Unless we explicitly identify a venue as operated by SocialCue, we do not own, operate, control, staff, endorse, sponsor, or supervise it, and we have no agreement or partnership with it. Venue listings are compiled by our staff and imply no affiliation.

Venue information — including boundaries, hours, and details — may be inaccurate or out of date. Your presence at any venue is subject to that venue’s own rules, admission policies, dress codes, and legal requirements, and to the laws that apply there.

Events listed in SocialCue are created by our staff. Attendance is voluntary and at your own risk. RSVP counts are estimates, shown only as aggregate numbers of women and men, and do not guarantee attendance, admission, or capacity.

SocialCue is not responsible for anything that occurs at a venue or event, including conduct of venue staff, other patrons, other members, or third parties.

10. Location services

Presence features require location permission. You may revoke it at any time in device settings, and presence features will stop working.

Location accuracy depends on your device, network, and environment and is not guaranteed. Presence may be delayed, missing, or incorrect. Do not rely on the Service to determine anyone’s actual location or whereabouts.

We store location readings as described in the Privacy Policy. Your exact coordinates are never shown to other members.

11. Ghost Mode

Ghost Mode makes you undiscoverable. Turning it on immediately removes your current presence records so you stop appearing at any venue at once. You may turn it on or off at any time.

While Ghost Mode is on you do not appear in a venue’s visible members list in any view — All, Heterosexual, or LGBTQIA+. Turning off community filtering, choosing Prefer not to say, or hiding your profile badge is not Ghost Mode and does not hide you from All.

12. User content

Your content. You are solely responsible for everything you upload or post — photos, profile text, interests, comments, replies, and poll votes (“User Content”). You represent that you own or have the rights to it and that it does not violate these Terms or anyone’s rights.

License to us. You grant SocialCue a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, and display your User Content solely to operate and provide the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained in backups or as required for safety, legal, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Photo review. Photos are checked automatically for file type, dimensions, and size only. We do not automatically review photo content. Photos are made visible on upload and may be removed later following a report or staff review.

What you can post. Members may upload profile photos, edit profile fields, and post comments, replies, and poll votes on staff-authored channel posts. Members cannot create channel posts, events, venues, or news — these are authored by SocialCue staff.

Removal. We may remove any User Content, at any time, with or without notice, at our sole discretion.

13. Intellectual property

The Service — including software, design, branding, the SocialCue name and logo, and all associated content — is owned by SocialCue, LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Service, or use our trademarks without written permission.

14. Referrals

Each account receives a referral code. If someone joins using your code and completes their profile, you receive Promo Credits once you both have a verified mobile number, provided the invited person has not already qualified for a referral reward, including through another account.

Referral rewards are granted once per invited member, are subject to change or discontinuation at any time, and may be withheld or reversed where we determine abuse has occurred — including self-referral, duplicate or fraudulent accounts, or automated signups. Promo Credits have no cash value and are not redeemable for money.

15. SocialCue Connect memberships

SocialCue Connect is a membership for a fixed period of 30, 90, or 365 days. When paid SocialCue Connect is offered, you buy it with Regular Credits (Section 16), and the app shows how many Regular Credits each period costs before you confirm. During a beta period, SocialCue may provide SocialCue Connect at no charge; the app says when this applies, and we may end it on notice in the app.

SocialCue Connect is required to see other members at a venue, send or receive Invitations, make Connections and exchange socials, choose Selector or Discoverable mode, and take part in mode Channels. Map, Venues, Events and RSVPs are free.

  • Connect does not renew automatically. When your period ends, Connect ends unless you buy another period. Buying another period while Connect is active adds it to your current end date.
  • Connect is not a Google Play or Apple App Store subscription. No recurring charge is made, so there is nothing to cancel in your store account.
  • Spending Regular Credits on Connect is final, except as described in Section 18.
  • Prices and features may change on notice.

Free trial. When we offer it, a member who has not previously bought SocialCue Connect or had a free trial may receive one free 7-day trial of SocialCue Connect, once they have a confirmed email address and a verified mobile number. Only one trial is available per person, as we determine using verified email addresses and mobile numbers, including across deleted and new accounts. A trial costs nothing, uses no credits, does not turn into a paid membership, and ends automatically after 7 days. We may change or stop offering trials at any time.

16. Wallet and credits

The Service includes an in-app credit balance with two credit types:

  • Regular Credits — an in-app virtual currency sold in credit packs (Section 17) when purchases are open, and spent on SocialCue Connect (Section 15) when paid SocialCue Connect is offered. While paid SocialCue Connect is not offered, Regular Credits stay in your balance but have no use.
  • Promo Credits — credits granted by us, such as referral rewards (Section 14). Promo Credits cannot be bought and cannot be spent on SocialCue Connect. Promo Credits currently can’t be spent on any feature; if we introduce a use for them, we’ll describe it here before it takes effect.

Credits are not money. They are a limited, revocable, personal license to use features within the Service, and they can be used only within SocialCue. Credits:

  • have no cash value and are not stored money, a bank account, a payment account, or an investment
  • cannot be cashed out, redeemed, exchanged, or converted to money
  • are not transferable between accounts or to any other person
  • Regular Credits you buy do not expire while your account remains open
  • may be adjusted or revoked where we determine fraud, abuse, or error has occurred, or where the store purchase that funded them is refunded, reversed, or revoked (Section 18)
  • are lost when your account is deleted or terminated, as described in Section 20

We may change the prices of credit packs, which packs are offered, and the number of Regular Credits SocialCue Connect costs. A change applies to purchases made after it, not to credits or Connect time you already have.

17. Purchases

Regular Credits are sold as credit packs in the SocialCue Android app through Google Play’s billing system. If SocialCue later offers purchases on Apple devices, they will be made through the Apple App Store. Each purchase is processed by the store under its own terms, and the store shows you the price, in your currency, before you confirm. We never receive your payment card details.

Buying credits may be paused, for example during a beta period. If buying credits is not open on your device, the app says so and no purchase can be started. If a purchase already in progress is made after buying was paused, the credits are not added unless buying reopens, and Google Play refunds that purchase automatically under its own rules (currently within 3 days of purchase).

Before each purchase, the app asks you to confirm that you agree to these Terms, including this section and Sections 15, 16, and 18. We check each purchase with the store before adding credits, and credits are added only to the SocialCue account that started the purchase. If a purchase you paid for does not appear, use Restore purchases in your Wallet. While buying is paused, Restore purchases adds only a purchase made while buying was last open, before the pause began.

18. Refunds

Store refunds. Refunds for credit purchases are handled by Google Play (or, where applicable, the Apple App Store) under its refund policies, and you request them from the store. SocialCue does not issue or process store refunds itself.

Purchases made while buying is paused. A purchase we could not credit because buying was paused is not added to your balance and, unless buying reopens and it is added first (Section 17), is refunded by Google Play automatically; you do not need to request it. Google Play issues the refund; SocialCue does not process it.

If a purchase is refunded, reversed, or revoked. If the store refunds, reverses (for example, through a chargeback), or revokes a credit purchase, we remove the credits from that purchase from your Regular Credit balance, up to the Regular Credits you still have. If we can’t remove all of those credits because some were already spent, and you have an active SocialCue Connect membership, that membership ends. We do not charge you for credits we could not remove, and we never take Promo Credits to cover a refund.

Otherwise, no refunds. Except as described above, or where required by applicable law or the store’s refund policy, credits you buy and Connect periods you buy with credits are not refundable and cannot be exchanged for money.

Your rights. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or other right you have under applicable consumer-protection law, or under the store’s policies, that cannot be waived by agreement.

19. Reporting and moderation

You can report members, photos, and comments in the app.

Reports are confidential. The person you report is not notified and cannot see reports about them. Your identity as a reporter is not disclosed to them.

We review reports at our discretion. Submitting a report does not by itself remove, block, disconnect, or disable anyone — it opens a review. We may act, or decline to act, in our sole discretion, and we are not obligated to tell you the outcome.

Do not submit false or bad-faith reports. Doing so violates these Terms.

Blocking is a separate action available to you at any time and takes effect immediately.

20. Suspension and termination

By you. You may delete your account at any time in the app or at app.socialcue.co/delete-account, except while your account is suspended. Deletion is handled as described in the Privacy Policy, including its limited legal and safety exceptions, during which deletion may be delayed. When you delete your account, any unused credits (Regular and Promo) and any remaining SocialCue Connect time are lost and are not refunded, except where applicable law requires otherwise. The app tells you this before you confirm deletion.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your account, or restrict access to any feature, at any time, with or without notice, and at our sole discretion, including where we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, or engaged in conduct harmful to other members.

Effect. On termination your right to use the Service ends immediately, your profile stops being discoverable, and any credits and unused membership time are forfeited without refund, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

We do not currently operate a formal appeals process. You may contact legal@socialcue.co, and we will consider your message, but we are not obligated to reinstate any account.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including User Content license terms, Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law — survive.

21. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SocialCue disclaims all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that location or presence information will be accurate or timely.

We make no representation or warranty about any member. We do not verify identity, age, photos, self-declared community or profile badges, self-declared Identity details, background, criminal history, or intentions. We are not responsible for the conduct of any member, online or in person.

We make no representation or warranty about any venue or event. Venues are independent businesses we do not control.

You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members and for your safety.

22. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOCIALCUE, LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, personal injury, emotional distress, or property damage, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service — whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

IN NO EVENT WILL OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

We are not liable for the acts or omissions of other members, venues, event organizers, or any third party, including anything that occurs during or after an in-person meeting.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

23. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SocialCue, LLC and its members, managers, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of or relating to: your use of the Service; your User Content; your violation of these Terms or applicable law; your violation of any third party’s rights; or your interactions or meetings with any other member.

24. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms, and any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to them or to the Service — whether in contract, tort, statute, or otherwise — are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

You and SocialCue agree that the exclusive venue for any dispute is the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts and waive any objection based on inconvenient forum.

Where the law of your own jurisdiction grants you rights or remedies that cannot be waived by agreement, nothing in this section removes them.

25. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Changes are posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

26. General

Entire agreement. These Terms, our Privacy Policy, and the policies they refer to — including the Community Guidelines, Safety Guidelines and Child Safety Standards — are the entire agreement between you and SocialCue regarding the Service.

Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
